Today's meeting was led by Esther Guerrero Auerbach. Beverages were hosted by Dan Cate, of Tech
Inspection Service. Dan spoke for a moment about his self-described
"common sense" approach to Home Inspection. Contact Dan at 226 7700.
Our mortgage Minute was delivered by Becky Isner of
Amerigroup. She spoke of the volatility of rates lately, and of a new more rigorous
requirement to specify APR more precisely for loan consumers.
Our main guest was Shasta County Office of
Education Superintendent, Tom Armelino, whose mission is to provide assistance
and leadership to our 25 local school districts in Shasta County, and ensure
all students have access to a quality education. Tom brought along an excellent
PowerPoint presentation of facts important to know about our local schools, and
we have made arrangements to have that for you here:

We recorded Tom's comments
along with membership questions. While reading the presentation he brought
along, you are invited to listen to his
commentary about each slide/page at the Podcast Page. His talk is Podcast #9,
and runs about 45 minutes. The presentation is packed with a lot of interesting
and useful facts, so we won't summarize here. It should be noted however, that
out-of-town buyers rely on your knowledge of local schools, and so it is
incumbent on you to make yourself aware of all this information. As pointed out on slide 13 of 31:
" Never in our past have so
many firm opinions been based on so little
factual information.”
Make sure your firm local school opinions are based in fact. Read the
material and give the podcast a listen, and be grateful that we have only
terrific schools in our area, with a good many choices for parents, and options
for kids. It was yet another great program from our Association. If you think this post and podcast was of value to you, please let a director know, or make a comment on this page. Skip
