The refreshments were sponsored by Ted Landis (530) 949 1808 of Habitats Panelized Homes. If you are unfamiliar with panelized construction, you can click on the link for some interesting information. It’s a good time to be an owner builder. Their lovely brochure says 100% financing is available. Speaking of financing, our mortgage minute was provided by Deborah Moore(530) 515 5522 of Mission Hills Mortgage who detailed the latest ‘challenges' to getting safely to COE, and how those challenges are steadily growing more complex. And challenging. You may have noticed that, BTW.

Farmers Agent Abby Chandler 605 9233 is selling raffle tickets for the Shasta Women’s Refuge. $20 for a chance at $7500 for Christmas Shopping.  Great cause, so give her a call for a chance to win a Christmas to remember.

Barbara Brooker brought a flyer promoting an Avon Breast Cancer research fundraising walk and party at the Real Estate Group’s Palo Cedro office Saturday Nov 7 from 4 to 6 pm. You can learn more at this LINK. Like the flyer says, “Watch out Breast Cancer, the Boobie Godesses are coming for YOU!”

Our featured guest was Rick Keene, candidate for the 4th District State Senate seat being vacated by Sam Aanestad. Our 4th Senate district includes Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, Glenn, Nevada, Placer, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yuba counties, so is a big slice of Northern California. Rick grew up in Trinity County, and has most recently served a 6 year term in the State Assembly in beginning in 2002, representing the Assembly 3rd District. Prior to being elected to the Assembly, he served as a councilman and mayor of the City of Chico.

Rick is a conservative Republican. He spoke to the membership about his values, and his accomplishments in public service. He also outlined his goals for the office, should he be elected. It was interesting and informative talk. If you were unable to attend the meeting, we have provided a recording for you at our Podcast Page. It is Podcast #19, and runs just over 40 minutes. Give it a listen, and be informed about the issues and initiatives facing our state from his perspective. It was another great meeting and comments from all who attended were in agreement.
